Incredibly popular in the US, The Bachelor has never done quite so well over here in the UK. The first UK series of the show aired on BBC Three way back in 2003. After running for three series, the show ended in 2005 before being revived by Channel 5 for two celebrity versions featuring Charlotte Church's rugby player ex Gavin Henson and Made In Chelsea's Spencer Matthews as the Bachelors.

Now, the show is back again with 31-year-old personal trainer Alex Marks taking on the role of the Bachelor and it's safe to say he was a hit with the ladies as they met him in Monday night's first episode.

Viewers were left in stitches as the Bachelorettes were each forced to introduce themselves with a cringeworthy opening gambit - either showcasing a skill or presenting Alex with some kind of gift to reflect their personality.

One of the Bachelorettes showed up holding a home-baked pie because she loves to bake, whilst another stepped out of the car and launched into a full-blown fire dancing routine. Meanwhile 21-year-old Scot Tara decided to introduce herself through the medium of rap. Honestly though, we can't decide if the most awkward was the Bachelorette who decided to introduce herself with a solo dance or the one who started with a serenade...
