Applications For The Next Series Of Love Island Are Officially Open

Although we’ve still got nearly a year to wait until the next proper series of Love Island UK, ITV are kicking off preparations already by opening up applications online. So if you're over 18, single and ready to mingle, or just fancy bagging yourself a sweet deal with PLT, now could be your chance!

On the online application form, the channel writes:

ITV2 are looking for vibrant singles from across the UK who want to head to the sun, in search of love. The chosen cast will spend time in a luxury villa, getting to know one another, but to remain in paradise they must win the hearts of the public and their fellow Islanders who ultimately decide their fate on Love Island.

Applicants have to meet certain criteria. Aside from being over 18, they also have to confirm that nobody in their family works for ITV, that they have a valid passport and that they are available to participate in the show for eight consecutive weeks. Whilst no dates are specified, this does at least suggest that we'll be getting an eight-week-long series come summer 2021.

However, don't be getting too excited just yet. There were apparently 98,000 applicants for last summer's series - and only six of the 36 Islanders who appeared on the show came through the online application process. Meanwhile 24 of them were scouted by the show's casting team - either via Instagram or on the street - and the other six were put forward by professional agents.

Meanwhile, Ollie Williams, who made a brief appearance on Winter Love Island earlier this year has suggested that the entire cast in the Winter Villa were scouted rather than applying. Still, don't lose hope - Amy Hart, Joe Garratt, Michael Griffiths and even Ovie Soko all came through the application process, so there’s always a chance!
