Amber Gill Launches Bid To Become Prime Minister

In an unlikely career swerve, Love Island 2019 winner Amber Gill has suggested that she could one day run for Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. The reality star and influencer shared the idea with fans in a tweet that’s already gained over 6,000 likes – and another former Islander is on board...

With much of the UK in outrage over Prime Minister Boris Johnson’s decision to stand by his special advisor Dominic Cummings over his trip to Durham during lockdown, an unlikely candidate has come forward as a potential successor should there be another election – Love Island’s Amber Gill.

The 22-year-old reality star tweeted: ‘I never thought I'd be able to get into politics but as I get older I realise these guys just make stuff up on the spot So with that in mind I might run for PM’. Fellow former Islander Amy Hart quickly volunteered herself to become her ‘deputy PM’ and Amber replied ‘LETS GOOO’.

Whilst Amber is almost certainly joking about her ambitions to become Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, it’s not the first time she has stepped out of the comfort zone of most influencers to speak her mind about politics. Last year she openly campaigned in support of Jeremy Corbyn and the Labour party ahead of the December elections.

She was dubbed the ‘people’s queen’ by many of her fans after tweeting on election day: ‘So I’m not going to lie I was kind of feeling fragile today and didn’t want a fight on twitter so tried to be impartial but I just had a shower & remembered I’m 100% that b**ch so #VoteLabourToday.’

So maybe a Love Island winner running for Prime Minister wouldn’t be such a crazy idea after all… Amber’s already proved she can win over the public – and after all, the current president of the United States, Donald Trump, was a reality TV star before he entered politics…
