Getting a good night’s sleep is the key to being healthy. Scientists wanted to find out what time is best to go to sleep if you want to be in the best possible shape for the next day…
Psychiatrist Ellen Vora led a study to determine the ideal time to go to bed so you fall asleep quickly and get a good night’s sleep.
The best time to fall asleep more easily
According to Ellen’s conclusions, the ideal time to go to sleep is 3 hours after the sun sets. Depending on the season, this time can vary between 9pm and 11.30pm. If you go to sleep too late, you will find it difficult to fall asleep because your body has sent a signal to your brain telling it that you have to stay awake. Even if you’re exhausted!
You’ve probably already worked it out, but this means you need to go to bed earlier in winter if you want to stay healthy all year round…
The midnight rule
In general, when you go to sleep before midnight, you won’t be as tired the next day.
Eating affects your sleep
You’ve undoubtedly already noticed this but eating has a direct influence on your sleep. When you eat fatty foods and drink alcohol, your sleep is strongly impacted in a negative way. The sugars in these foods make you restless in the late evening and prevent you from getting a good night’s sleep.
