Beijing: Hottest city in the world

Experts predict that in the next fifty years, because of the heat and humidity, many cities in the world will face rising temperatures that may pose numerous problems for their inhabitants. This is notably the case of Beijing in China, a city of nearly 400 million people, which could become the hottest area in the world in just a few decades.

But China is not the only country concerned by this worrying phenomenon. Bangladesh could also suffer the same fate, as explained by Professor Elfatig Eltahir, in charge of the study at MIT, when speaking to Le Parisien.

‘The increase in temperatures and humidity during the summer could reach levels exceeding the capacity of the human body to survive unprotected,’ he predicts.

Temperatures not the only thing rising

Not to mention that this region of the world has other threats besides the heat. MIT also predicts that within a few years, Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh and home to nearly 11 million people, could end up completely submerged as sea levels continue to rise.

Finally, the Arab states of the Persian gulf will also most likely be affected by this climate change, which is inevitably warming up under the effect of greenhouse gas emissions.
