This Woman Thought She Had Won The EuroMillions Lottery But She Ended Up In Jail

A mother aged 46 who lives in Doubs in France spent over 4000 Euros (around 3500 pounds) in uncovered cheques simply because she thought she had won the EuroMillions Lottery.

She paid the price for not checking her winning numbers more carefully. This Frenchwoman had a sudden burst of megalomania because she was sure that she had won the lottery.

3500 pounds of expenditure

The story goes back to 2014, when the woman spent around 3500 pounds, thinking she had hit the jackpot. She didn’t think twice before writing out a number of cheques for perfume, clothes and make-up, but unfortunately these were bounced. She only later realised that she hadn’t got the winning number.

4 months of prison

It was too late; the damage had been done and the various retailers filed complaints. The jury gave its verdict: the woman would receive a 4-month suspended sentence and she would be forced to compensate the victims. A hefty fine for a careless mistake.
