He was amazed when he saw the toenail of a new patient. The nail was so big that he decided that the best thing he could do was to remove the entire thing!

The patient suffered from what is commonly known as ram's horn nail, the scientific name is Onychogryphosis. It is often found in the toenails of the big toe.

Onychogryphosis is characterized by an exaggerated increase in the thickness of the nails, which causes them to curl in a spiral. Although they are most commonly found on the toenails of the big toe, they can be found on any nails of the feet and hands.

It mainly affects the elderly, but young people can also suffer from Onychogryphosis. The most common causes are inappropriate or too narrow footwear, repetitive strokes, psoriasis, osteoarthritis or cardiovascular diseases.
