When she decided to share the happy news of her pregnancy on social media, she didn’t expect that a photo of her belly would become the focus of waves of insults.
Elisha Bakes is a young Australian mother that decided to share the happy news of her second pregnancy on social media.
She and her husband found out she was pregnant when she was already 6 weeks in. From then on, there was no doubt about it and she uploaded lots of photos of her pregnant belly with her husband and her other 2 year old child.
At fourteen weeks pregnant, she uploaded a photo in which we can see that her pregnancy had clearly advanced. And what started as a lovely photo of a happy mother-to-be turned into an avalanche of abuse.
Some online trolls thought that her belly was too big for just fourteen weeks and decided to send her horrible comments such as that she looked as if she was expecting 78 babies, or a ‘horse’ or even just some unnecessary comments about whether she had counted right or questioning whether her bump was too big.
Elisha justifies her belly with the fact that she is only 5ft 3in tall. And the photos, with her husband who is 6ft 3in tall, naturally makes her bump look a lot larger than usual.
However, pregnancy is a whirlwind experience and doesn’t need to be justified for any reason. Her pregnancy is her own. Her belly is absolutely perfect and it’s precious in all the photos she posts.
