It is very common now for women to go for ultrasonography, otherwise known as medical sonography and ultrasound, to check on the health of their baby. The baby's sex can be determined in this way, and the images captured are the child's first baby picture.

Happy baby
Everything seems normal about this young woman's pregnancy and her baby is growing and developing well, but one thing is a little out of the ordinary! On the monitoring screen, you can see the baby leaning with their little feet on their mother's stomach, and jumping happily! This stunning and rare reaction left the excited parents speechless.
The magic of ultrasounds
Ultrasounds can often provide surprising images and footage. This is called pareidolia, or the human tendency to see familiar shapes among the unfamiliar. Strange things can therefore sometimes be seen in ultrasound images. Rubber duckies to Star War characters have all been seen before. One couple, who are both musicians, also saw their baby giving them the 'rock on' sign; very fitting!
Upon seeing the image, this mom said:
My reaction was just uncontrolled giggling, followed by disbelief and more giggling. My husband was the first one that initially spotted it... He was so amazed and excited by the little rockstar!
Ultrasound technology, which has been around since the 1930s, is now being used for even more and more purposes. These application range from the first truly hands-free phones, to acoustic holograms, glasses for blind people, and even tractor beams and alien scanners!
