Sadly the 43-year-old's mother had succumbed to the virus and her partner also passed just a week later. Doctors were unsure whether Scott would make it but when he did, he woke up to the news that he was the only person left in his household

Scott recalled discovering that his mother fell ill in March when she had a fall and couldn't get back up. The BBC reported that she later tested positive for the virus at the hospital. Scott was allowed to visit his mother but he claims he was already so ill himself that he doesn't remember the event.

Scott described the moment he was woken from his coma:

When I came round, I just had a gut feeling that something had happened to mum and when the nurse told me it was just disbelief and shock. It was very hard.

Sharlene Miller, Scott's sister in law revealed that it was a relief to see him up and about after being told that he may not make it:

There was a sense of relief obviously because I don't think we could have coped with losing Scott as well. When we were able to speak to him and see him, we were elated with that. It was lovely.

Scott was a self-employed locksmith and weighed 22 stone before he fell ill and since waking from his coma he has gone on to drop 3.5 stone by learning to walk again, going to the gym and playing sports.

Miller also wants to warn people in Scotland not to drop their guard against the virus. He stated:

People need to understand it's a real killer, I don't think people are really taking it seriously.

Scott's warning must be headed as comes just as Aberdeen has announced it will be going back into lockdown. This means 200,000 Scots will have to stay within a five-mile radius of their homes. The announcement was made as the area had seen a rapid increase of coronavirus cases over the last week. To add extra measures to the lockdown, all indoor and outdoor hospitality venues shut their doors again at 5 pm yesterday.
