This strange condition affects one in every 3,000 women worldwide, according to data from the World Health Organisation. It usually happens when the uterus fails to fuse correctly during development in the womb, resulting in uterine duplication.
Lauren had no idea that she had this until she got an ultrasound. A few months after she was diagnosed, she got surgery. The membrane that separates her two vaginas was removed so she could have a normal sex life.

A year after the surgery, when she was 17, she met Ben and fell madly in love with him. In 2012, they got married in Melbourne. A year into their marriage, they decided to start trying for a baby because they both really wanted children.
Although Lauren wasn't sterile, doctors warned her that it would be difficult for her to carry a baby to full term, because her two wombs were very small. However, she decided to try anyway, and got pregnant.
