Depreta, an American mother, received quite the shock when she noticed a rather menacing dark mark on the top of her baby daughter's mouth. Usually, blackened skin isn't a good sign and can even indicate tissue necrosis. This sort of tissue death can be caused by a number of things such as bacteria or blood vessel damage. But either, way it usually requires immediate medical attention, so it's no surprise that this mum became very concerned.

At the doctor's office, doctors tried to get rid of it, but they couldn't. They believed that it was a mark that the baby must've had at birth. Depreta explained that she always cleaned her firstborn's mouth and knew that it wasn't there before. The mother wrote in a social media post:
[The nurse] said she had never seen anything like it
It was nothing harmless at all!
Upon examining the little girl's palate, they realized that she was trying to get rid of it herself by pushing it with her tongue and that there was something white on the other side. Depreta continued:
I point out it looks a little white on the side and she really gets in there trying to scrape it. ONLY TO FIND OUT IT WAS CARDBOARD FROM A BOX BELLA CHEWED STUCK TO THE ROOF OF HER MOUTH.
That's right, as luck would have it there was nothing seriously wrong at all and the baby had just managed to get hold of a little cardboard. And, as we know, babies will try to fit anything and everything into their mouths. Depreta believed that baby Bella must have spotted the delicious piece of cardboard whilst she was busy doing the dishes. But, when she took the box away from her daughter, the baby must have held on to one tiny piece leading it to get stuck to the roof of her mouth. Depreta revealed that she could never show her face in the doctor's office again:
I can never show my face in that office again. I cried/laughed for a solid five minutes straight.
