With over 2 billion users across the world, Meta-owned messaging app, WhatsApp is the largest in the industry. Scammers and other criminals know this, and so they are flocking to the platform to scam people. Operators of the app are aware of this and have put in place measures to protect users and make the space hostile to scammers. This includes prohibiting some content from being shared or sent.

Adult content

Group chats make it easy to have discussions among more than two people on the app, but some use the space to share adult content with members, according to mint.com. However, the sharing of adult content on WhatsApp has legal consequences and if someone in the group reports you for that, you could be fined or sent to jail.

Just as it is still a crime to download of duplications of original content, you could get in a lot of trouble for sharing such content on WhatsApp, The Sun reports. If someone comes to know about sharing copyrighted content and files a complaint about it, then there are legal consequences. The person sharing the copyrighted content could face heavy damages that he/she would have to pay.

Messages condoning violence

If you send out a text or a video depicting or relating to terrorist activities, you will be falling foul of the law. According tomint.com, the person sharing such content will be behind bars because the government keeps an eye on such content, keeping national security in mind.

Too many messages

One thing you should avoid doing in order to keep your account is sending too many messages. A Daily Record article says WhatsApp warns users must not send ‘bulk messages’ - when a person or organization sends numerous the same message to many phones.
