The reason why Queen Elizabeth II is in such great shape at the age of 95 is because she takes care of her diet every day. The monarch, who makes a point of eating healthy and balanced meals every day, surrounds herself with the best chefs at Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle, for menus ranging from breakfast, through lunch to dinner.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day

According toHello! Prince Philip's widow starts her day with a pre-breakfast of Earl Grey tea and a biscuit next to her corgis. Then it's time for breakfast, which she enjoys in her private dining room at Buckingham Palace. Queen Elizabeth II enjoys cereal, yoghurt and marmalade toast. Princes Harry and William's grandmother also does not shy away from salty food in the morning. She even occasionally enjoys fish. Charles Oliver, a royal servant, had this to say in the book Dinner at Buckingham Palace:

The Queen has had a weakness for herring since the war years.

A balanced diet for Queen Elizabeth II

For lunch, Queen Elizabeth II prefers simple dishes such as fish and vegetables. According to former royal chef Darren McGrady, the monarch's typical lunch is Dover sole on a bed of wilted spinach. A very important moment for the Queen is tea, accompanied by her favourite, a cucumber, egg and smoked salmon sandwich. For dinner, Queen Elizabeth II usually opts for a combination of meat or fish and vegetables. A whole host of habits that now make her the longest reigning Queen in UK history.
