‘The Tabloid Press Effectively Murdered His Mother, Now They’re Tearing His Wife To Pieces' Hugh Grant Defends Prince Harry's Decision

Harry and Meghan’s decision to move to Canada has divided the nation. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have faced lots of negative press since the announcement was made, but they recently received lots of support from Hugh Grant.

Britain has been upside down since Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s announcement to withdraw from the Royal Family. The press have been churning out new headlines every day about Megxit and even the Queen’s former cook has spoken out on the topic. And now, even actor Hugh Grant has opened up about the royal drama in an interview.

Megxit has divided the nation

While Harry and Meghan are busy planning for their new lives in Canada, the general public is not at rest. The speculation surrounding the Prince’s withdrawal and his disagreement with his brother is so great that Prince William and Prince Harry felt compelled to issue a denial.

The royal drama seems to have split the public into two sides. While half of the press sees Meghan as the culprit, the Duchess of Sussex is also extremely popular among the nation. Even Hugh Grant has declared that he sides with Meghan.

Hugh Grant is on Harry’s side

In an interview that was conducted alongside Charlie Hunnam and Matthew McConaughey to promote their new film ‘The Gentleman’ in the United States, the actor was asked about the Megxit situation.

The Notting Hill star has made it clear that he stands by the Prince and Meghan.

‘I’m rather on Harry’s side. The tabloid press effectively murdered his mother, now they’re tearing his wife to pieces. I think as a man, it’s his job to protect his family, so I’m with him.’

Tough accusations about the British tabloids

In an interview with Andy Cohen, Grant also delved deeper into the truth behind the British tabloids.

‘When they say in those articles ‘a close friend’ or ‘a palace insider’, there’s no such person. It’s all entirely invented.’
