The Emotional Story Behind This Detail Of Princess Eugenie's Dress

Princess Eugenie married Jack Brooksbank in a stunning ceremony at St George's Chapel, Windsor. The royal wore a dress by British-based designers Peter Pilotto and Christopher De Vos and she had one very special request for them when it came to designing her bridal gown.

Princess Eugenie specifically asked for a dress with a low back in order to show off her scar. When the royal was twelve years old, she had surgery to treat her scoliosis, a condition which causes curvature of the spine.

The princess chose to wear a dress which showed off the scar from her operation in order to honour the doctors who had helped her sixteen years ago. She also wanted to inspire other young people affected by the condition.

Appearing on ITV's This Morning prior to the wedding, Eugenie said: 'I think you can change the way beauty is, and you can show people your scars and I think it's really special to stand up for that.'
