Prince William Shares Cryptic Message At First Public Appearance Since Harry Talks

After Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle sent shockwaves through the British public and the Royal Family last week by announcing their intention to ‘step back’ from their roles as senior royals, emergency talks between Harry, William, Charles and the Queen were held at Sandringham on Monday to discuss Harry and Meghan’s future.

In a rare statement, the Queen described the talks as ‘very constructive discussions’ and went on to confirm that ‘My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan’s desire to create a new life as a young family. Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working Members of the Royal Family, we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.’

Later this week, both Harry and William made separate public appearances – their first since the crucial talks took place. Harry appeared at Buckingham Palace on Thursday for the 2021 Rugby World Cup draw whilst the future King William visited young people at an event in Bradford, West Yorkshire with his wife Kate Middleton.

Whilst speaking at the event, Prince William shared some advice that royal-watchers reckon may have been a cryptic reference to his own family’s challenges, saying:

‘It’s sometimes trying to get people to understand that it’s OK to have these challenges. We just need to deal with them and we need to move forward rather than just be stuck in paralysis and pretend they don’t happen.’

Introducing the Rugby League World Cup 2021 Mental Fitness Charter - a new initiative created by the RFL that will champion the importance of good mental fitness and create sustainable legacy the sport can be proud of. The Duke was announced Patron of the Rugby Football League in December 2016, after it was given to him by Her Majesty The Queen. He is proud to support the Rugby League and the steps made to improve the sport! The initiative announcement comes ahead of today’s live RLWC2021 World cup draw with The Duke of Sussex, alongside representatives of all 21 nations involved, in Buckingham Palace. By “the final whistle of the final game” of @RLWC2021, the charter commits to: • - Train every player, team official, match official, teammate and volunteer to look after their own mental fitness and the mental fitness of those around them. - Support tournament players to take their experiences home and develop mental fitness awareness within their own Rugby League communities. - Deliver mental fitness workshops to 8,000 young Rugby League players, and their parents. - Train grass roots coaches to continue delivering mental fitness workshops and leave a sustainable tournament legacy. This comes at a vital time for both the sport and mental health awareness, with suicide being the most common cause of death for men aged 20-49 here in UK. Given that 93% of the 42,000 Rugby league players and 70% of spectators are male, the mental fitness charter is of huge importance to help educate both players and audiences of the benefits of looking after one’s mental wellness. Meanwhile, Harry put in a cheerful appearance at the Rugby World Cup draw, as he joked with the crowds of children present that he wasn’t properly dressed for playing rugby when they invited him to join their game. Whilst he remained tight-lipped, he reportedly laughed off questions about the so-called ‘Megxit’ drama.
