Prince William Got The Sweetest - But Surprisingly Cheap - Gift For Jacinda Ardern's Baby Daughter

A royal gift is priceless…and Prince William certainly wouldn’t argue otherwise. The latter celebrated his birthday on June 21—and on the same day one year earlier, Prime Minister of New Zealand gave birth to a daughter named Neve Te Aroha. This year, Prince William gave the baby a surprising, but highly symbolic, gift for her first birthday.

Sometimes, it isn’t the price, but the sentimental value of an object that truly counts. The story of the royal gift is a perfect example. On Friday, June 21st, Prince William celebrated his 37th birthday. On the same day, far away in New Zealand, the daughter of the Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern, celebrated her 1st birthday.

The Prince of course sent the little one a birthday gift. But despite what one might expect, he didn’t send anything lavish—even if his estimated fortune is over £30 million. The young father instead sent a symbolic little toy, a wooden bee.

But what does it actually mean? An expert on the royal family explained on the site Royal Central that Prince William was photographed with this kind of bee during a visit to the Parliament in Auckland, New Zealand with his father, Prince Charles, and his mother, Princess Lady Diana, when he himself was only ten months old.

A picture of the gift was posted on Twitter by the baby’s father, the partner of Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern. Engraved on the bee are the words, ‘Happy birthday Neve. From Prince William.’

The dad adds: ‘Torn between letting the 1st birthday girl continue to maul this amazing gift or putting it somewhere safe FOREVER. Happy birthday Prince William, what a great shared birthday’

Apparently, this pretty little bee only cost about £18! Take a look at the video above to see Prince William's sweet and thoughtful gift for yourself...
