Meghan Markle is reportedly holding an intimate party at the £11million mansion she shares with Prince Harry in Santa Barbara, California. Meghan's mother Doria, as well as close friends Oprah Winfrey, George and Amal Clooney are reportedly attending, but no other Royal Family members are expected to make an appearance. Harry is pulling out all the stops to make Meghan's 40th a special day, and has ordered a cake–dubbed 'ludicrous' by The Sun–from nearby bakery Posies & Sugar, Tatler has reported.

'Naked' cake

The bakery's speciality is a 'naked' cake where some of its layers are visible underneath the icing.

Posies & Sugar's website shows a three-tiered masterpiece, serving up to 30 guests, costs £160, while additional charges apply for special dietary requests, including gluten-free and vegan.

The cakes on offer include a vanilla bean, 'perfect for birthdays'; a rich 'Mama's Chocolate'; 'Strawberry Bliss', loaded with fresh Central Coast strawberries that comes with a range of frostings.

Guests at the low-key birthday bash, expected to include 65 of Meghan's closest friends and family, will enjoy 'grazing tables' with locally sourced foods and wines.

Colin Cowie, who was Vogue’s top wedding planner and caterer in 2018, was reportedly recommended by the chat show host following her explosive interview with Meghan and Prince Harry.

He has put on parties for several high-profile stars, including Oprah Winfrey, Tom Cruise and Kim Kardashian.

A source told The Mirror:

Meghan wants a small gathering. About 65 people are invited, her closest friends and family.
Colin was recommended to her by Oprah who always puts on fabulous parties.
