A memorial service for Diana, Princess of Wales, will be held at Kensington Palace this month. The event would cater to more than 100 people. According to reports, the service was postponed due to COVID safety standards in July. There will now be a reception following the unveiling of Princess Diana's statue. The event is expected to be hosted by Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and one of Princess Diana's close friends from the entertainment world, Sir Elton John.

Considering it is such a significant event for the Royal family, it will probably be the highlight of the month. However, shocking news has come in that Harry and Meghan will not be returning to the country for this event.

Absent from the party

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not travel to the United Kingdom for a belated celebration of the Princess Diana statue's inauguration at Kensington Palace. The royal siblings had previously come together for the unveiling of their late mother's statue at Kensington Palace on July 1, which commemorated her 60th birthday. Meghan also skipped it because she had just given birth to her second child, Lilibet.

Although, after the US eases travel restrictions to allow quarantine-free travel, Meghan and Harry can travel to the UK. According to a spokeswoman for the couple, the couple will not be attending the party.Ingrid Seward, editor-in-chief of Majesty Magazine, spoke at the reception and said,

You would have thought it would definitely be something Harry would really want to be at. I can’t imagine anything less important for him because he would want to respect his mother.
It is an important gathering of his mother’s friends. He could even get a few quotes for his memoir. I am sure Meghan would want to be there for Diana and Harry.

Been around the world

While the power couple won’t be returning for the event, they have been out and about in the world for other important events. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended the Global Citizen Live event in their first public appearance since becoming parents to Lilibet in June. The two were also present for the premiere of Daniel Craig's final James Bond film, No Time To Die.
