Emma Raducanu recently triumphed at the US Open. Not only did she become the first British woman to win a Grand Slam in 44 years but also the first qualifier to take home a singles title. Unexpectedly she did not drop even a single during the tournament. After her hard-earned win and beating Canada’s Leylah Fernandez, she received an overwhelming response from fans and the Queen herself.

The 18-year-old beauty fired her way up to the glory quite sensationally from beating Fernandez 6-4 6-3. The match took place in New York and was a big deal for her as she won a whopping 1.8 million pounds. Yet the highlight for this sports star was the message from the Queen. She started her letter by congratulating Raducanu and wrote,

I send my congratulations to you on your success in winning the United States Open Tennis Championship.

Raducanu’s Reaction

The teenager was delighted and taken aback by the words written by Her Majesty. She was thrilled that the Queen noticed her efforts and dedication. Admitting that she will always cherish the letter, she said,

It meant everything to get a message from Her Majesty. She's such a great inspiration and role model for the whole country so to have a note from her.
I was extremely honored and very very grateful that she took notice of my tennis. I can't believe it. I'm maybe going to frame that letter or something.

The Queen’s Letter

Raducanu was on cloud nine after receiving the letter and she had all the reasons for it. The monarch in her extremely sweet and personal letter wrote:

It is a remarkable achievement at such a young age, and is a testament to your hard work and dedication.

Further, the Queen also appreciated her opponent Fernandez and said the two could be an inspiration for many more players in the future.

I have no doubt your outstanding performance, and that of your opponent Leylah Fernandez, will inspire the next generation of tennis players.

Concluding her letter, she sent good wishes for her and all her supporters as even Raducanu thanked her supporters in a video message for all their support saying,

I really appreciate it (fan support), it got me through some really tough moments so thank you so much and I hope to see you again here soon.
