‘Mosting’ is a new, online pick-up technique that is even crueller than ‘ghosting’. According to the American version of the HuffPost, it is a subcategory of ‘ghosting’ that involves suddenly disappearing after getting on really well with someone and completely bombarding them with praise and compliments on a dating site.

The strange thing about ‘mosting’ is that the people who do it convince the person they’re talking to that they’re THE one, and all the faux perfect soulmate-type stuff. Just like ‘ghosting’, ‘mosting’ is a technique capable of breaking the hearts of numerous internet users.

Journalist Tracy Moore who named this new, cruel dating trend, explained to the HuffPost.

‘The mosting is much more confusing and painful because this wasn’t just a ‘meh’ date that you could take or leave. This person really made you feel like you had a rare connection in a sea of duds.’ Declaring your love too hastily on dating sites and apps doesn’t always help find the one.
