Prince Andrew’s sex abuse controversy has sent members of the royal family on a quest to clear their own names and rectify their public image. This could be the reason why Princess Eugenie has also decided to start the year on a more charitable note.

She recently announced that she will be launching her very own podcast series for The Anti-Slavery collective, which she founded alongside her best friend Julia de Boinville.

The podcast

Although the announcement may seem like a tactical move, theduo has been working on the podcast for quite some time now. They revealed the news in their initiative’s monthly newsletter and added (as quoted by Hello Magazine):

We were so excited to begin recording our long-awaited podcast this year, due to be released in 2022 so stay tuned!

The princess launched The Anti-Slavery Collection in 2017 to fight the problem of modern-day slavery and human trafficking. Their charity seeks to raise awareness about this ‘hidden but organised crime.’

Having more time

The news of the initiative comes right after the Queen stripped Prince Andrew of his military titles and removed him as a public member of the family. A source told Express.co.uk that this could have major consequences on the rest of the York family and may mean that his daughters, Princess Eugenie and Beatrice, will not have as many responsibilities in the royal household. They said:

The Yorks are a close-knit family and this will be devastating for them.
They only perform a very few royal duties. However, any expansion of their roles, which was a possibility as there are fewer senior royals and many of them are no longer young, is now impossible for the foreseeable future.

The fact that she could possibly have a less active role in the upkeep of the monarchy may be the reason why she has decided to embark on a new adventure with her best friend.
