A true ambassador for the end of year festivities in the US, Mariah Carey returned to New York City to perform on stage once more. Last year, the singer was faced with technical problems and unfortunately couldn’t perform her songs in time with the backing track. This year everything went well during the show and she was able to sing several of her greatest hits. She was however, mocked by Twitter users for asking for tea while addressing the public who were stood in the freezing cold.
1. Time for tea: After singing “Vision of Love” and just before “Hero”, the diva said 'I’m just going to take a sip of tea if they let me; I was promised there would be tea'. After not getting the hot drink she had hoped for, the singer said with a hint of sarcasm 'Ouch, it’s a disaster! Okay, we’ll just have to rough it; I’ll be just like everybody else with no hot tea'.
2. In hot water: These few words gave Twitter users fuel to mock and make fun of the American singer. ‘The first time life throws you a curve in 2018, just remember: Mariah Carey made it through without her hot tea’ wrote American journalist Jason Pederson on Twitter. To her credit, Carey took it well by laughing at the situation and sharing a photo of her with a cuppa after the show.
