Caroline Flack was the host of Love Island for the past five years but was set to step out from presenting the show after she was charged with assault against her boyfriend former Tennis player and model, Lewis Burton.
Following her arrest, Caroline shared a heartbreaking message on social media expressing how devastating she was about this decision:
‘Love Island has been my world for the last five years, it’s the best show on telly. In order to not detract attention from the upcoming series I feel the best thing I can do is to stand down for series six,’
Love Island producer shared a snap introducing Laura Whitmore as the new host with a sweat caption from Laura, where she expressed her gratitude towards Caroline:
'I wish it was in better circumstances; Caroline is a brilliant host and friend. We’ve spoken a lot in the last few days since she stepped down. She has been very kind to me and strongly pushed me for this role. I’ve watched her host every series and know I have big boots to fill. I will try and do it justice.'
While in a recent interview, the Irish beauty told the Sun:
'She has been incredibly gracious and supportive of me taking on the role for the winter series. She’s a brilliant host and I just hope that I can give the role the justice it deserves while she is taking some time off.'
Love Island producers have definitely moved on from Love Island veteran Flack, as they shared a new version of the Love Island Winter trailer, with a special edit cutting out the 5-year tenure former host.
Caroline has always been supportive of her friend hosting 'the biggest show on television'. We can't wait to see Laura's debut on Love Island this Sunday!
