While it was one of the best seasons of Love Island ever, 2019 champions Amber Gill and Greg O’Shea were the shortest-lived winning couple ever. Having coupled up in the final week of the show, they split just a month after leaving the villa—with Greg reportedly dumping Amber via text.

Since then, Greg has kept his love life on the down-low. While he only recently ended a two-year relationship, he never publicly revealed the identity of the lady he was dating. Now that the relationship is over, he has opened up on why that is. Speaking to The Mirror, Greg explained:

I was never 100% sure. With things like that, you kind of want to be 100% sure privately in the relationship, behind closed doors and when you're both alone before you let millions of people in. I think you have to be so sure about this person. And so does your family and you friends. You should be ridiculously madly in love with one another and spend so much time together and then you can solidify the relationship and feel secure enough to let millions of people on social media it on it.

Why did Greg O’Shea and his girlfriend split?

Greg and his ex-girlfriend broke up before Christmas as they realized they were in different places in their lives as he wanted to travel more and have fun while she was very focused on her career. It seems to have been an amicable break-up, with Greg admitting he’s ‘heartbroken’ and praising his ex as ‘one of the loveliest people’ he’s ever met.
