On the most part it's a fun opportunity to share a throwback pic - and to show off how hard puberty hit you in many people's cases. Whilst some have warned the challenge may have been created as a way for big tech companies to collect data for facial recognition software, others have used it as an opportunity to spread important messages about the environment by sharing side-by-side images of the melting polar icecaps.
Unsurprisingly, many of our favourite Love Island stars have been getting involved, including Chris Hughes, Laura Anderson and Niall Aslam. But there's something about Niall's side-by-side pics that has left his fans baffled...
