Big media storm for Tsingtao, one of China's most prominent beer producers! Just as an employee was starting his day at the warehouse, he was caught urinating in a container. A third party filmed the worker climbing onto the infrastructure beforerelieving himself. Although the incident occurred in the city of Pingdu, south of Beijing, it was quickly reported. Posted on the Weibo social network on October 19, the video was viewed millions of times and (unsurprisingly) reached the company's executives.

An investigation has been opened

Tsingtao contacted the police the very next day after the video had been published, and an investigation was launched to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.

Our company attaches great importance to the video of Tsingtao Brewery No. 3 that was released on Thursday, October 19

The famous brewer confided via a statement before continuing:

We reported the incident to the police as soon as possible and law enforcement is involved in the investigation.

To reassure customers, the company has taken a consequential step. At present, the batch of malt in question has been completely sealed. The company continues to strengthen its management procedures and guarantee the quality of its products,Tsingtao concluded.

Will this incident compromise Tsingtao's image?

Tsingtao would have preferred never to experience such an event. And with good reason: the company is China's second-largest brewer, and aims to diversify its production. What's more, the company was recently listed on the Hong Kong stock exchange. Let's hope this incident doesn't affect Tsingtao's future too much!
