According to a researcher at the National Institute of Health and Medical Research in France, 'sleep is a good indicator of a person's overall health and their relationship with the environment.'

Only a quarter of British adults say that they sleep very well most nights, while over half lose sleep over worry and stress. Over all, 7% of the adult population get less than five hours of sleep per night and the same amount sleeps for eight to nine hours. And just because you're laying in bed, doesn't always mean you're getting quality sleep.

Blue light exposure

Experts at Healthline say that exposure to blue light could be one of the reasons you get inadequate sleep. This specific kind of light has the ability to suppress the hormone that usually regulates your sleep-wake cycle—melatonin. The lower your levels of melatonin, the less likely you are to get good sleep. In simpler words, stay away from electronics at least an hour before bed if you want to wake up feeling recharged!

Food, exercise and hydration

However, keep in mind that good sleep is not the only thing that will boost your energy. US scientists from the University of Georgia discovered that athletic people were more energetic and awake than those who were sedentary in general.

Moreover, having a balanced diet also plays a huge role when it comes to productivity and energy. Integrating fruits, vegetables, protein, and foods that are rich in iron is essential. Dr Veronica Van der Spek states:

By improving your nutrition, one can easily offer better resistance to fatigue and stress.

Other factors can also improve your physical health such as hydration, not skipping meals, feeling fulfilled with your life... If after all these changes you still feel tired, then you can opt for vitamins or dietary supplements!
