A scientific study has proven it, 40% of cancers are preventable thanks to certain habits. This is the focus of the new campaign made by the National Cancer Institute, launched at the beginning of the year. Based on the slogan ‘What if, in 2019, we made the vow to prevent 40% of cancers?’ Television spots and broadcasts on social networks are promoting good habits to adopt.

Here are the resolutions to take at the beginning of the year. And the first is to stop smoking. Tobacco represents the leading cause of cancer deaths, as reported by Europe 1. And this good habit also concerns ‘occasional smokers.’

It is also advisable to reduce your alcohol consumption. By the way, the ‘dry January’ challenge can help you! Alcohol is the second most preventable cause of death by cancer.

Eat better, move more!

Another recommendation is to adopt better eating habits. ‘Food is both an ally and an enemy. There are 4.5% of new cancer cases per year related to obesity and overweight and 5.4% of new cancer cases are attributable to a non-optimal diet,’ says Dr Alice Desbiolles on Europe 1.

Last tip, start working out. Or, at least, increase your physical activity, such as walking more.
