A new movement has started to gain a following on Instagram: posting photos of your acne.
On Instagram, the hashtags #SkinPositivity and #acneisnormal have been taking off since the Beauty Youtuber Em Ford and the star of the Orange Is The New Black series, Ruby Rose, posted photos of their ‘natural beauty’. This new beauty trend is all about accepting your acne and not hiding your face behind filters. The aim? To accept yourself as you are and being more self-confident.

You don’t have to be ashamed of yourself to adhere to what society deems beautiful. For a few months now, women have been getting busy on social media. After the hashtag #BalanceTonPorc which in English means #CallHimOut about sexual harassment, beauty is now dominating the popular hashtags. The time of beautiful, touched-up photos to get lots of likes is over.
