Whilst she loves gardening and cooking, Jean is also a black belt in karate and this April, completed her second marathon - a seriously impressive feat at any age but truly incredible at 83!

Jean decided to run the marathon as a way of working through her grief when her brother died suddenly. She had read an article which advised taking on a massive challenge as a way of distracting from the pain.
Jean said: 'Concentrating on running helps with the grief. I’m doing it because I can.'
Jean also ran the marathon to raise money for Parkinson's UK as a close family member suffers from the disease.
