Is Your Morning Coffee Really Giving You Energy?

Thinkyou can't start your day until you've had your coffee? Wrong! Yes, caffeine is energising, but its effect depends mainly on when you consume it.

Upon awakening, the human body releases a dose of cortisol, a hormone that gives energy and awakens our senses - exactly the effects of coffee.

Choose your time

So if you drink a coffee when you wake up, when the cortisol is active, the two substances will come into conflict, according to the neuroscientist Steven L. Miller, who spoke to Die Welt. Instead of multiplying the effects of the hormone, caffeine will simply be useless!

The ideal time to drink a coffeeis when the body produces less cortisol, between 9:30 and 11:30 and between 13:30 and 17:00. The drink will then take over for the hormone, to give you a boost!
