If you're going to he grocery store, the doctors or even taking the bus, face masksare now a necessity for public safety. Thetypical mask is just plain white but many have taken to making their own with funky fabric patterns to match every outfit.
People are even making masks in tribute to their favourite films and tv shows. That's exactly what Colorado-based artist Stefanie Hook has done. This artist has created a Harry Potter devoted mask designed after none other than the Marauders Map.
Everybody and their mother knows that to open the Marauders Map you must utter the words:
I solemnly swear I am up to no good.
Well, Hook's mask also has a very creative, interactive aspect that creates the same effect. Hook uploaded a video to her TikTok wearing a seemingly black mask but as she breathes out, the mask reveals the Marauders Map. The video has already had over 415K views. Hook spoke to The Insider:
I try to bring imagination to life in the creation of my products, ensuring that they are not one-dimensional items, I like to give the average person the ability to own items that are unique, and bring magic into the real world in hopes to further inspire others to create and be creative.
From start to finish, between cutting fabric, treating the fabric, waiting for the fabric to set, and sewing a single mask together, it can take 17 hours. The majority of the time is waiting for the treatment to set into the fabric. I've learned to make multiple at a time, production-line style, to maximize my efficiency.
But the Marauders Map won't be the only design available. Hook has also been looking into other heat-based interactive masks and has also posted on TikTok another mask inspired by The Night Before Christmas.
