Several UFO cases identified around France by scientists

Could extraterrestrial species be visiting us discreetly? While a mysterious Internet user claims that a meteorite full of aliens and unknown materials is about to hit the Earth, the prestigious French organisation Groupe d'études et d'informations sur les phénomènes aérospatiaux non-identifiés (GEIPAN) is archiving and trying to authenticate testimonies of people claiming to have observed UFOs. Several credible cases have not yet been explained.

Unidentified Aerospace Phenomena

If one day, you observe a curious shape in the sky, and you can't figure out if it's a plane, a satellite or a saucer, you can share your testimony with GEIPAN. Attached to the management of the Toulouse Space Centre in France, the Group's mission is to collect testimonies, analyse them, archive them, make them anonymous and inform the public. However, avoid talking to them about UFOs! The group favours another name:

We speak of Unidentified Aerospace Phenomena (UAP) and not UFOs. Because the term UFO has the double defect of talking about an object, whereas it is not always an object, and especially of having a connotation of saucer or extraterrestrial.

As a reminder, a UFO or UAP is not synonymous with a spacecraft. It can be a meteorological phenomenon, a vehicle or even a speeding car. Nevertheless, some cases, taken very seriously by GEIPAN, are quite simply inexplicable.

French UFOs

To date, GEIPAN has counted 2,978 cases. 23.5% of them have been 'perfectly identified', 33% are 'unidentified (for lack of data)', while 3.3% are unidentified after investigation. Relayed by our confreres of Actu Morbihan, some of them are intriguing. On June 1, 2014, a witness claims to have observed a UFO in a region of France. GEIPAN summarizes the case as follows:

Observations in the night sky of a dark mass, equipped with two small lights. Sudden displacement at a dizzying speed and disappearance: unexplained case of a strange unidentified phenomenon.

More recently, GEIPAN recorded another case, occurring in 2018 in Finistère (also in Brittany, France). The Group summarizes the testimony as follows:

Observation at night of silent movements of a luminous phenomenon consisting of a yellow bar and a green fluorescent headlight - changes in trajectory: unidentified phenomenon (D1).

But the cases recorded by GEIPAN are not limited to just one region in France. There is for example this strange case, dating from 2015 and located in Lot-et-Garonne:

Observation of a black spot in a black fog motionless in the clear sky: unexplained phenomenon of medium strangeness (D1).

Or this one, which would have taken place the same year in the Var:

Observation at a short distance of the silent displacement of a charcoal grey oval mass with lights: case classified D1: the unexplained phenomenon of medium strangeness.

In short, if you witness a UFO, you now know who to contact.
