You may not know it, but even though a reusable bottle reduces its ecological impact, it can also be hazardous to your health. According to Leslie Reichert, a cleaning expert interviewed by Apartment Therapy, these bottles can contain many bacteria. According to her, it is essential that you clean your bottle after each use.

'It may only contain water, but bacteria and germs reproduce in damp and dark environments, like inside a bottle,' she said.

How do you clean it?

Cleaning it is very simple: you can either fill it with hot water and a little soap or mix white vinegar with hot water and let it work its magic. Moreover, if you notice that several elements on your bottle are detachable, remember to clean them as well, since germs can form even in areas that are difficult to reach.

2. Closing it when it is empty

As soon as your bottle is empty and you are not going to use it until the next day, for example, remember to rinse it and leave the lid open. Why? This allows it to air out and prevents germs from gathering on the wet sides.

3. Putting it in the dishwasher

Finally, avoid putting it in the dishwasher. It may seem more practical, and yet, this should be avoided. Why? Simply because the appliance could accelerate the deterioration of your bottle. It is therefore better to simply wash it by hand.
