Before the Oscars scandal that brought his career to a halt, Will Smith said in an interview he’d had a vision about the end of his career at a retreat in Peru.

At the 94th Academy Awards, Will Smith lost his temper and slapped comedian Chris Rock, who was presenting the event, after making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's illness.

He then had several acting projects cancelled and was also banned from the Academy Awards ceremony for ten years. He then left to India to recuperate from this incident, but it was earlier during another retreat in Peru that the actor saw his career collapse in a vision.

Will Smith's disturbing vision

Will Smith made a strange confession to David Letterman on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction - which was filmed before the Oscars. During a retreat in Peru, after consuming ayahuasca, a hallucinogenic herb, in the form of an infusion, the actor had a catastrophic vision. He speaks of ‘destroyed life’.

He confided, not suspecting what was to follow at the Oscars:

Once you drink it, you see yourself in a way that you've never seen yourself before. And that was the most hellish individual psychological experience of my life,

I drank, and it usually takes about 45 minutes for it to kick in. I'm sitting there thinking, ‘Maybe it won't work this time’.

So I was sitting there drinking, and all of a sudden I started to see all my money go, my house go and my career go.

An incident prior to the slap at the Oscars

A most distressing hallucination, especially as it also concerned his family. The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star recounts how he heard his daughter, Willow, calling for help, without him being able to see her.
