Will Prince Harry and Meghan’s children get the HRH and other titles?

The Queen’s passing away is just the start of a change in things for the British monarchy. However, with Prince Charles being the new King of England, Archie and Lilibet may now automatically become Prince and Princess.

Here’s how it goes

MSN confirms under the protocols established by King George V in 1917, the children and grandchildren of a sovereign automatically attain the right to the title HRH and prince or princess. Thus, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor is now technically Prince Archie and his younger sister Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is Princess Lilibet.

At the time Archie was born, he was the great-grandson of a sovereign and not a grandson, so a title was out of the question. However, Prince George – Prince William’s eldest son and third in line for the throne now – was given the title of a Prince; he was the eldest son of the Sovereign's eldest son’s eldest son.

Having said that, it is widely known that Prince Charles wants toslim down the monarchy and if that happens, Prince Harry’s children may not be given the titles even though they may be entitled to them.

Will they be visiting the UK?

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were already in the UK when Queen Elizabeth II passed away yesterday. While Prince Harry travelled to Balmoral to see his grandmother, Meghan stayed back in the capital. The couple had been in the UK to attend a few charities close to their heart, so Archie and Lilibet didn’t tag along with the couple.

Hello magazine confirms that the Sussexes might extend their stay in the UK, although there has not been any official word for it. And if the couple extends their stay in the UK, the kids may be joining them too.

It is thought that Archie and Lilibet may make the journey to the UK with Meghan’s mother as she has helped the couple in the past with the kids. Although, even if the children do come to the UK, they may still not be present at the funeral as Prince William and Kate’s children were not present for Prince Philip’s funeral.
