On 8 January 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the world by surprise when they announced on Instagram that they would 'step back as 'senior' members of the Royal Family'. 

Their statement also shared their intention to ‘work to become financially independent, while continuing to fully support Her Majesty The Queen.’ However, as we know, that has not been possible and the couple now live in California, estranged from the rest of the Royal Family. 

In 2006, the Queen visited the Sovereign's Parade at The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. As she passed by him, Prince Harry couldn't help but break composure. 

The Independent reports that, at the time, it was thought that the Queen had ‘delivered a witty quip’ to Prince Harry, making him laugh. The sweet moment caused Prince Harry to blush and remain red for the rest of the ceremony. 

As well behaved as royal children are, there are still children and Princess Charlotte reminded us of that in 2019 when she stuck her tongue out at her grandfather, Micheal Middleton. 

In 2023, Prince Louis also reminded us that, well… kids will be kids. While watching the flypast above Buckingham Palace, he pretended to ride a motorcycle. Or maybe he was pretending to be a pilot. We'll never really know. 

Queen Elizabeth was an absolute show-stopper at the 2012 London Olympics. She joined Daniel Craig in a James Bond segment which concluded with her jumping off a helicopter. A true icon!

In 2017, during the Invictus Games, this little girl started stealing Prince Harry's popcorn. At first he didn't notice but when he did, he pretended to be shocked. An adorable moment!

The dress that would have broken the Internet had it been a thing back then! In 1994, the Princess attended an event forVanity Fair. That same night a tell-all documentary with Prince Charles aired. He proceeded to confess to being unfaithful. 

When Queen Elizabeth's coffin was placed in Westminster Hall for people to pay tribute, her grandchildren decided to hold a vigil. A powerful moment!

This wedding was surrounded by a lot of drama, especially concerning Markle's family. However, in the end, it all seemed like everything worked out. 

The event was memorable: Markle became the first woman of colour to be a senior royal, she walked herself down half of the aisle before being taken to Prince Harry by then Prince Charles and they had an all black gospel choir singing. Oh, George and Amal Clooney were also there!

In January 2023 the world was shaken by the release of Prince Harry's memoir, Spare. The book is filled with revelations about members of the family. To this day, it is believed that this book has caused some irreparable damage.

In May 2023, King Charles and Queen Camilla were crowned. The last coronation took place in 1953. The 2023 coronation was watched by 18 million people in the UK and 400 million people worldwide. 

Prince Archie of Sussex was born in 2019 and his birth was monumental. Prince Archie is the first non-white child to even be born in the British Royal Family. 

On 20 March 1974, Ian Ball, an unemployed man, tried to kidnap Princess Anne. In this photo, the royal is visiting her bodyguard who got shot during the attempt. In the end, it is reportedly Princess Anne's sheer gall that stopped Ball in his tracks. 

Later on, when asked about the event Princess Anne described it as a ‘very irritating conversation’. Iconic! 

In January 2024, within two hours, the world found out that both the Princess of Wales and King Charles had undergone or had to undergo surgery.

While visiting Whipsnade Zoo, Queen Elizabeth fed Donna a banana. However, the animal wanted more and extended her trunk all the way to the Queen. A photographer present said that ‘quite a few zookeepers’ looked ‘slightly concerned that a huge animal’ could all of a sudden rush forward! Thankfully all people and animals involved behaved appropriately!
