Princess Charlotte may not be a working royal
Princess Charlotte is Prince William and Kate’s second child and is currently third in line to the throne. According to Daily Mail’s Diary Editor, Richard Eden, there is a high chance that Princess Charlotte will grow up with the expectation of getting a job:
From what I hear, the Prince and Princess of Wales want Charlotte, aged seven, to grow up with the expectation that she will get a job and not be a full-time royal.
He then goes on to explain that if it were to happen, it would follow King Charles’ wish to slim down the monarchy and have fewer working Royals.
Moreover, if Princess Charlotte isn’t a working Royal, there is a slim chance that her younger brother, Prince Louis, will be one either. Of course, all of this will come into play at least 15 years later as Princess Charlotte is only 7 years old at the moment.

Princess Charlotte a non-working royal would be a first
If Princess Charlotte were to get a job and not be a working Royal, this would be a historical first. Indeed, when Elizabeth II was Queen, the ‘spare’ Princess Margaret was a working Royal.
Moreover, King Charles’ siblings are working Royals, with the exception of Prince Andrew who was forced to step down in 2019. If Princess Charlotte were to get a job, she would still be expected to fill in when needed. Royal expert Duncan Larcombe, told Town and Country:
If Charlotte is to get a job and not be an active member of ‘The Firm’, she needs to be ready to step into the breach, if needed.
There is also speculation that Princess Charles will inherit Princess Anne’s title of ‘Princess Royal.’ However, for her to inherit this title, it will only be when Princess Anne dies as it is a title for life, reserved for the monarch’s eldest daughter.
