Prince Andrew’s ‘bachelor pad’

The apartment, known as Chamber Floor, was where Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson began their married life together. The door leading to the suite is still called ‘The Duke and Duchess of York’ despite the pair being separated since 1992.

The suite contained many of Prince Andrew’s personal effects, such as photos of his daughters, Princesses Beatrice and Eugenie, as well as mementoes of his time in the Royal Navy. It was also home to Prince Andrew’s teddy collection, which had to be set out in a very specific way on his bed.

The apartment also served Prince Andrew as a bachelor pad following his divorce from Fergie. The source revealed that apparently:

He (Prince Andrew) brought back a string of new girlfriends to his home in the Palace — even model Caprice.

Other London lodgings needed

It was revealed on Christmas Eve that Prince Andrew was ousted from his Buckingham Palace office and reportedly asked not to use the Palace as his address.

A source has now told The Sun that Prince Andrew no longer has access to his sleeping quarters at Buckingham Palace either.

Since Prince Andrew’s apartment is part of the £369 million renovation works currently underway, it seems normal that the Duke of York’s belongings are moved out of the Palace. However, it is reported that the Prince will not be allowed to return when the work is finished, per the King's directives.

The source told The Sun:

The King has made it clear that Buckingham Palace is no place for Prince Andrew.

The King allegedly isn’t against his brother using other Royal estates. He is reportedly allowed to keep the Royal Lodge at Windsor, where he and his ex-wife, Sarah, live. Prince Andrew may be forced to stay at nearby St James’s Palace in London. However, the source claimed:

A bachelor’s flat in St James’s Palace doesn’t have the same allure for a single man.
