The King has seen a rise of £30m in his personal fortune in the past year alone. This ranks him even higher on The Sunday Times Rich List, but he is not the richest person in the UK yet, in fact, he is far from the first place.

King Charles becomes as rich as former PM Rishi Sunak

According to The Sunday Times Rich List, King Charles' personal fortune gained £30m in the past year. The list only counts personal gains, so the King's estimated wealth does not include the Crown's properties. His estimated net worth is now £640m, which is just as much as the combined wealth of the former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty. The couple is the richest in the history of 10 Downing Street, but they lost £11m in the past year.

King Charles is also estimated to be richer than power-couple David and Victoria Beckham, who are reportedly going through a rough patch as a family, with their estimated £500m fortune.

Where did the money come from? It is believed that this influx of money is due to the investment portfolio that King Charles inherited from his mother, the late Queen Elisabeth II. The portfolio includes the Sandringham estate, as well as Balmoral. In 2024, the King was ranked 258th out of the 350 richest people in Great Britain. Thanks to his £30m bonus, he is now up to the 238th position. However, he is still far from the top, so who are the richest people in the United Kingdom?

Who are the richest people in Great Britain?

For the fourth year in a row, the billionaire Hinduja family remains at the top of the UK's Rich List, despite having lost a significant amount of their fortune in the past year. Gopi Hinduja, along with his family, runs the Indian conglomerate Hinduja Group. The family's estimated jaw-dropping net worth is way higher than King Charles', with about £35.3 billion, but it was £2 billion higher last year. In the past three years, the country has seen a decrease in its number of billionaires, and the trend seems to be continuing in 2025. Indeed, while the UK counted 165 billionaires last year, that number is down to 156 this year.

The second richest people in Great Britain are David and Simon Reuben. The brothers, who were born in Mumbai, made their £26 billion fortune through property and technology, with their business Reuben Brothers. Next on the list is Ukrainian-born Sir Leonard Blavatnik, with a fortune worth £25 billion. The British-American citizen made the most of his fortune in Russia, but he also bought label Warner Music in 2011. One of the country's most famous entrepreneurs, Sir James Dyson, comes in fourth on the list, with an estimated net worth of £20 billion.
