For example, in the beginning of June, the King chose to spend a five-day hiking holiday in one of his estates in Romania. King Charles recently had to let go of one of his most beloved properties, but he still has a lot to choose from.

King Charles spent five days in Romania

King Charles has been traveling around Romania since 1998, especially in the Transylvania region, which he reportedly says 'inspires him'. He owns several houses in the region, and chose to spend five days in one of them in the beginning of June. The King was pictured going on several hikes alone, as his wife Camilla was not by his side.

However, King Charles was not in Romania solely for his holidays. Indeed, the King is said to have held private meetings with the President of Romania, Klaus Iohannis, at his presidential home of Cotroceni Palace, but also with several Romanian diplomats.

King Charles III has reportedly been a great fan of Romania for many years and is said to now own at least ten houses and estates in the countryside there. In 2006, the King allegedly bought the 'blue house' in Romania, after falling in love with the region during an official visit in 1998, according to TheMirror.

The Mirror reports that the farmhouse is located in the rural village of Viscri and is open to the public when Charles is not there. The house allegedly has seven bedrooms and has no radios or televisions inside to create a peaceful and quiet atmosphere.

Viscri is a peaceful place

According to klatsch-tratsch.de, the purchase of the house in the village has contributed to a boom in tourism in the region. The King is patron of the London Mihai Eminescu Foundation, which works to preserve the unique settlement structures, so it is not surprising that he chose Viscri for his holiday spot.

The Romanian village is famous for its historic fortified church and the old village center with its Saxon farms and has been UNESCO-protected since 1999.

Transylvania enjoys a boom in tourism

Allegedly, from the estate, which includes woodland, flower meadows and small streams, bears can be observed from time to time. King Charles' love for Romania came rather naturally, as he said there is a balance there, between man and nature, where they apparently live as one.
