Everything we know about Prince William and Princess Kate's lavish Greek yacht escape

As reported by GALA, the Wales family flew to Kefalonia on 16 July via private jet. Along with their kids, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, they were joined by Kate's parents, Michael and Carole Middleton.

The future king and queen let the kids choose their holiday destination this time. As per reports, George, 12, led the planning, opting for an island-hopping yacht tour. They chose a vessel called the Almax, which is 50 metres long and boasts a pool, jet skis, SUP boards, and diving equipment. Additionally, its fuel-cell drive makes it a greener choice than most yachts in its class.

They have been swimming, spotting sea turtles, and exploring sites such as Kefalonia's Melissani Cave in Greece. Kate has also allegedly enjoyed reading and yoga on deck while leaving the cooking to the onboard chef. Despite the chef, Prince George requested a McDonald's burger and fries, which were delivered to them by boat from Zakynthos.

While on vacation, the royals have kept a low profile, but still haven't gone entirely unnoticed. Penelope Likoudi, a retired Greek Ministry of Defence official, told GALA she spotted Kate and Charlotte relaxing on deck while swimming near the island of Ithaca.

The secret behind the yacht holidays

The royals have been known to enjoy their yacht vacations, but there's more to it than just the beautiful beach fits and stellar pictures. According to Marie Claire, former royal butler Grant Harrold noted that yachting is a well-established favourite among the royals. He said:

William's mother loved going on superyachts, and his father spent time on yachts like the Royal [Yacht] Britannia. Historically, the family tends to yacht around Greece.

While the yacht is a 'nice way' to see the world, Harrold added:

Yachting is also a great way for the royals to get privacy while abroad.
When you're out at sea, it's a bit trickier to be tracked or followed. It gives them that privacy, which I'd imagine is a key reason Kate and William would choose a holiday like this.

This privacy was briefly interrupted when a retired Greek Ministry of Defence official spotted Kate and Charlotte on deck near Ithaca. The island, steeped in the legend of Odysseus, provided a fittingly storied backdrop for the family's summer adventures. The Cosmopolitan also reported that during the trip, Prince William and Princess Charlotte briefly left the yacht to attend the Women's Euro final in Switzerland before rejoining the family.

Now back in England, the Waleses appear to have enjoyed not just a holiday, but a modern royal tradition that blends discretion, sustainability, and treasured family time.
