Why are the clothes still black?

Now that the mourning period has officially ended, the Royal Family members who are out and about in public and undertaking official engagements are still wearing black clothes. For Instance, the newly appointed Prince and Princess of Wales headed to Windsor Guildhall to meet the volunteers and operational staff that were involved in the Queen's funeral to share their gratitude.

Both Prince William and Kate were dressed in all black for the occasion. Other Royal Family members like Prince Edward and The Princess Royal both are on an official engagement in mourning clothes, confirms Mirror.

So why are the Royal Family members still in mourning clothes? As it turns out, the mourning period for the Royal Family still hasn’t ended.

A Statement released by Buckingham Palace confirmed that the period of Royal mourning will end seven days after the State funeral. Meaning, all the Royal Family members, royal household staff and troops on ceremonial duties will continue to be in a seven-day bereavement period.

Out and about

The Royal Family members will be observed in all-black attires until their mourning period ends next week. However, most of them are out in public again as they meet and greet people who have been a part of the Queen’s death ceremonies and funeral procession.

Princess Anne will go to St. Omer Barracks in Aldershot to meet with members of the Royal Navy who were crucial to the organisation of the historic state burial on Monday.

As Royal Colonel of the 2nd Battalion of The Rifles and Royal Honorary Colonel of the Royal Wessex Yeomanry, The Earl of Wessex is currently on his royal tour of foreign countries.
