Royal Strictly

It is understood that even Her Majesty is a Strictly Come Dancing superfan and has given her blessing to host the show from Buckingham Palace. The quarter or semi-finals are lined up for later this year and hosting it from Buckingham palace would be a perfect way to close the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee year. A source told The Sun:

Charles and Camilla are very much driving this and the BBC couldn’t quite believe what was being offered.
Strictly at Buckingham Palace is just TV dreamland. It should be a wonderful spectacle.

According to insiders, the show is a perfect fit for the Palace's huge ballroom, which has hosted 112 state banquets throughout Her Majesty's 70-year reign.

Royal fans

The source told the publication that Charles and Camilla are Strictly fans and would really want things to work out so they can host the show for its final. Only a few aides and top BBC officials have been privy to the plans because they are so sensitive. The logistics of fitting the set of the BBC's biggest hit into the Palace ballroom, which opened in 1856, have also been the subject of productive discussions. The source added:

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are, like millions of others, huge fans of Strictly Come Dancing - and so is the Queen.
So there is a real desire and energy to make this happen. Holding the show at Buckingham Palace’s ballroom would be a wonderful treat as we celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee this year. A lot of work needs to be done to get it over the line.
