After Last year’s record-breaking Ofcom complaints over Faye’s behaviour, this season Love Island has reached its height. The show received more than 5000 Ofcom complaints in five days, most of which targeted either the boys or the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge.
Mirror confirms that 1509 Ofcom complaints were filed against Love Island over the alleged misogynistic behaviour of the male Islanders in the wake of the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge. Viewers accused Dami Hope and Luca Bish of bullying Tasha Ghouri during the challenge. Tasha was pied a total of 3 times by Dami Hope, Luca Bish and Davide Sanclimenti, who all gave their own reasons for doing it.
The 1509 Ofcom complaints were made for the July 19 episode. An Ofcom spokesperson told the publication:
The complaints were largely pertaining to the alleged misogynist behaviour of the male islanders in the wake of the Snog, Marry, Pie challenge.
While 1509 complaints particularly targeted misogynist behaviour, The Sun reports that 3617 Ofcom complaints were made in total after the bullying row of Snog, Marry, Pie challenge. Of these 3617 complaints, 2000 were made on the same day as the episode was aired.
Another set of Ofcom complaints poured in for Laura Whitmore after she sl*t shamed Ekin-Su during one of the Love Island: Aftersun episodes. 427 complaints were made against her which also included some of the complaints about her behaviour towards Jacques.
Adam Collard’s entry also stirred up about 129 Ofcom complaints, while 159 viewers complained about the movie night footage of Ekin-Su and George during Casa Amor. Another set of 413 worried fans complained about the game of truth and dare that yet again made Tasha a target of male contestants' bullying.
