Johnny Depp breaks silence over $300 million Disney deal rumours

Johnny Depp’s representative has finally put out a statement regarding the rumours of a $301 million deal from Disney.

Johnny Depp took over many hearts when he won the Infamous defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife Amber Heard. Due to the result of this ex-couple’s conflict, Depp lost his prestigious role as Captain Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. His fans were devastated to hear that. But they got some hope when it was rumoured that he might be returning to the saga. However, those rumours turned out to be untrue.

Depp vs Heard defamation trial

Johnny Depp and his ex-wife seem to be a happy couple on the surface but their relationship was anything but that. Soon after divorcing Depp, Heard wrote an op-ed in the Washington Post claiming to be a victim of domestic abuse.

This had a devastating effect on Depp and led to a downward spiral of his career. In retaliation, he filed a defamation lawsuit against the 36-year-old actress and won. He was awarded $15 million in damages by the jury, he stated that the ‘jury gave him his life back’. Hence it begs the question will Depp don the hat of Captain Jack Sparrow again?

Disney to make a $301 million deal?

During the trial, the 58-year-old actor was asked about his feelings about losing the role of Jack Sparrow, and if he would ever return to Disney for $300 million and a million alpacas. To which he responded no, and he seems to have made up his mind.

As reported by Express, an insider from Disney claimed that they are ‘very interested in patching up its relationship with Johnny Depp’. However, these rumours were immediately shut down by Depp’s representative. As per The Independent, the spokesperson stated in a statement to NBC:

This is made up

Depp has portrayed the character of Jack Sparrow in five Pirates of the Caribbean movies so far and is loved by many. Fans have expressed many times that they would be ecstatic if he made a comeback as Jack Sparrow.
