Who is Patrick Kielty? - Cat Deeley’s husband

Away from the camera Cat shares a beautiful life and home with Patrick. The two have known each other since 2002 and have worked immensely on their careers. Cat met Patrick when she hosted the BBC talent show Fame Academy. Despite his career in comedy, Patrick is best known for being a television presenter, confirmed MailOnline.

He began presenting in 1993 on UTV presenting various shows on the network over a 3 year period. In 1997, he set up his own Belfast-based TV production company Green Inc with TV director Stephen Stewart. The two went on to make shows like The Afternoon Show, Patrick Kielty Almost Live, and Ask Rhod Gilbert. The father-of-two also presented various radio shows on BBC from 2015 to 2020.

When it comes to comedy, Patrick started his career as a comedian in 1991 when he was still a student at Queen’s University, Belfast. His first comedy gig was performing at an open mic in The Gasworks in Dublin. The owner suggested that he open his own comedy club and the two then started The Empire on Botanic Avenue in Belfast.

A year after forming the club he made his television debut as a contestant on the National Comedy Search - a segment on The Late Late Show. Patrick went on to become a finalist on the show along with Irish comedian Dylan Moran.

After turning to presenting for a few years, Patrick re-visited his first career love - Comedy - in 2006. He released a stand-up DVD in 2007 and appeared on Live at The Apollo. More recently, the Irish star took on his first stand-up tour in 7 years called Borderline.

Cat Deeley and Patrick Kielty love story

Apart from acing his career, Patrick had the patience to ace his love life as well. After meeting Cat in 2002, Patrick didn’t make a move on her until 2012. In 2012, Patrick called Cat to wish her on her birthday in LA. When Cat casually mentioned she would be going on a brunch the next day, Patrick said ‘I’ll see you there!’ and surprised her and thus started a great love story, reported The Sun.

Cat spoke about the incident and said:

It was my birthday and he’d rung me, he was at a pub in Ireland and he’d rung me from the pub.
Bear in mind it was probably about 2 o’clock in the morning because they’d had a lock-in.
He went home, set his alarm for five, got up, went to the airport, flew from Belfast to London, then jumped on the first plane from London to LA, got in a cab, told the cabbie on his way from the airport what he was doing, and the driver was literally like 'do you want me to wait for you?!'
