Molly-Mae opens up about endometriosis

In her latest day-in-the-life YouTube video (entitled What I Eat In A Day & My New Healthy Lifestyle), Molly-Mae filmed herself in a sports bra and leggings to show followers the tiny scar on her stomach from the endometriosis surgery. She said:

I don't know if you can see but I've got... that's just one of the scars from when they went into my stomach. They obviously went into my belly button as well. And lower down - but I don't think you really wanna see my vagina. Not that I need to justify why my stomach doesn't look extra toned today but that's why.

What is endometriosis?

According to charity Endometriosis UK:

Endometriosis is a condition where cells similar to the ones lining the womb are found elsewhere in the body, usually within the pelvic cavity. Each month these cells react to the menstrual cycle in the same way to those in the womb, building up and then breaking down and bleeding. Unlike the cells in the womb that leave the body as a period, this blood has no way to escape. This leads to inflammation, pain, and the formation of scar tissue (adhesions).

Although it affects around 1 in 10 women in the UK, there is a lot that is still unknown about the condition—including its cause. There is currently no cure for endometriosis, but there are several methods of treating its symptoms. These include surgery, hormone treatment and pain relief.
